Will browser updates break websites?

Many websites will only recognize compatible browser version numbers with 2 digits ahead of the decimal point, eg v95.0. So happens when the version number roles over to 100, which both Firefox and Chrome updates are rapidly approaching?

Mozilla and Google have both released their own ways for website developers to make a current 2-digit browser version look like v100. And results are starting to come in showing some major sites flunked...

Read more here about testing to see if your own site or other sites you use will work with Chrome 100. And here for Firefox v100.

Shades of Y2K !

LOL!

Edge Chromium will reach v100 by Spring, 2022 so sites have to make sure that's an acceptable version number too.

FWIW, I tested this forum with Firefox v95.0.2 spoofing Firefox v100.0 and my Profile page showed the  sign-in was with "Firefox/100.0".  So at least it accepts a 3-digit FF version number.

Don't use Chrome or Edge Chromium so somebody else can test this forum with those browsers spoofing v100.0.
