Thanks. Does VMAX have any special instructions for boot?

not really, just make sure the host lun id used in VMAX matches the LUN # in your UCS boot profile.

doesnt' have to be LUN 0 but why not, it must make is so much easier to identify and troubleshoot. The reason i asked you about ACLX is because on my 40K ACLX is mapped to all FAs so i had to increment the LUN ID in my UCS profile (see screenshot below).

Dynamox Does it need to be lun ID 0 for boot lun? we are thinking to create a masking view for every blade in the UCS domain. Please let us know if that is not the case. thx

FAs that will be used for your UCS blades, do you have ACLX device mapped to them ?

you need to refer to the specific documentation whether it is VMware or Windows you are installing on UCS.Cisco will have the documentation for it. Also does not make much sense to create a single MV with all your boot luns for all servers, Better to create 1 MV per server for boot lun and an additioanl MV for shared luns but again the documentation is out there.

No. This is new vmax3 deployment. ACLX is currently mapped to only one FA port.
