Can't install Symmetrix VMax System Viewer

I've used the System Viewer before on other computers, but I'm having trouble downloading and installing this tool.  I've got Adobe Air installed, but when I try to install the System Viewer, Adobe Air gives me the error message:

"The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged.  Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author."

It's happening on two different computers.  Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks, that helped.  It turns out there was nothing wrong with the file, but when I execute it from my NAS appliance, it errors out.  Copy the same file from my NAS appliance to a local drive, it worked fine.  Reproduced on both systems.  I love issues like this, makes me sooo happy...

I suspect your install bit is getting corrupted. Have you try to download the installation file from support.emc.com again?

1.Go to EMC Online Support > Support by Product and select any of the Symmetrix VMAX systems.

2.Once on the specified VMAX support page go to Tools.

3.The Symmetrix System Viewer can then be downloaded from there.

I have been trying to install EMC VMAX Symmetrix Viewer for last few hours, but no luck. I downloaded two different formats, but neither of them is working.

EMC_VMAX_Family_System_Viewer_41.air  - When I tried to install this, it is returning "The application could not be installed because the installer file is damaged. Try obtaining a new installer file from the application author"

EMC_VMAX_Family_System_Viewer.zip - Unzipped the file and got *.swf format. Have installed Shockwave Player too, but no luck in getting it opened.

Could you please help me here?

This sounds similar to the problem I was experiencing, and I really can't tell you what the issue was.  My suggestion would be to download the .air file again, to a different location, preferably your C: drive, and make sure your permissions are wide open.

Thanks for your response. I did uninstall the *.air and reinstalled *.air [followed your instructions], but no joy.

I have a feeling it's something similar to Protected View in Microsoft Office.  If the file is coming in from the Internet, stored on a shared filesystem, in a temp directory, etc. then you have limited permissions with the file.  I would create a new folder on your C: drive, then copy the file to it and try it from there.  Possibly run as Administrator as well.
