Convert non-meta to meta devices. 5876 Major release notes.

Question

I am in search for 5876 major release notes? I searched on support.emc.com and I could only find release notes of minor versions such as 5876.163.105 , 5876.163.105. I remember once reading in the release notes that 5876 supports conversion of non-meta devices to meta devices. Not sure if I read it write. Any one can provide me link to 5876 major release notes.

Conversion of non meta to meta is supported from long ago (pre 5876 code) but there are some caveats to it:

1) Conversion of non meta to stripe meta is a destructive process.

2) conversion of non meta to concat meta is possible without data loss.

3) conversion of concat meta to striped meta is possible(using bcv) is possible,

Thanks a lot for the reply Saurabh. Actually just tried it. Didn’t know it was so simple. I thought it would not allow us to form meta if the devices are bound to a thin pool.
