ESI connection to VMAX

Folks, does anyone have particular wisdom on connecting the SMI-S provider to EMC solutions Enabler for monitoring a Symmetrix array in ESI?

Ports, secure/insecure, meaning of errors returned, etc.

Documentation is so sparse, I have trouble believing this product is ready for customers.
