Expanding meta lun

Hi,

Lets assume I have one striped meta of size 100gb and I want to expand to 150gb.

So can I just convert it into concat meta and then expand and once its expanded can I convert it back to striped ? Will this work?

Thanks,

Shailender

no, BCV should be the size of the LUN before the expansion. Once the expansion is completed you can discard this BCV.

in newer code on VMAX you can simply use a BCV to protect the data while you are expanding it, without doing any conversion. Search this forum as this question came up recently.

Yes the BCV is just a staging area for expansion, del afterwards

I checked that forum and now I have one more question.

After expanding the striped meta using BCV now the size is 150GB but the BCV size is the old one 100GB. So do we need to expand the BCV too?

This is new to me. So you can convert concat to striped ? I assume you need to use an option where you mention the meta member size or something? I wrote it down for my next course. I'm certainly going to ask the instructor about this

@RRR,

Yes we can convert.The option meta member size we use when we take the case of auto meta. There we have to define 4 metrics and this is one of them.
