Failed disk management in VMAX
How to check:
1. The failed disk and specific spare disk that is replacing that failed disk.
2. The progress of failed disk replacemet with spare disk.
we use the below command to get the list of failed disk :
symdisk -failed list -sid XXXX
No Events found!

Hi,
1) You are using the correct command for checking the failed disks.
In VMAX, when Permanent sparing runs for a failed drive, the failed drive becomes a Not Ready Spare in Spare pool and Data will be copied/rebuild to new drive.
You cannot check the spare involved in this permanent sparing through CLI.You would need to contact EMC Support to connect remotely and check.
2) This cannot be checked by CLI either. Support needs to connect and check the progress of drive replacement.
