FAST-VP : Binding to a policy
I thought there was a feature in 76 code which allows luns bind to a policy instead of a pool. I cant seem to find this option or maybe it doesnt exist ? Is the feature now just protecting a pool from running out of space by allowing FAST-VP enabled Storage groups to allocate extents from other pools besides the it was bound to ?

You still have to bind to a specific tier, the new feature is allocation by policy.

Ok -- Is the new feature on by default for new arrays ? How about for array that have just been upgraded?

No, it is not on by default for any array - new or upgraded. It will ahve to be enabled in order for it to take effect. You can get more information on this in the Implementing FAST VP technical note on support.emc.com. The document includes a full description of how the feature works. It also includes CLI syntax and Unisphere screen shots on how to enable it.
