How big can a striped meta be?

I'm new to VMAX and have a question about striped metas. I have a number of SQL servers, some with performance sensitivity. They have the practice of asking for large LUNs. From asking around in my network this seems to be pretty common. Striped metas seem to be the the solution with the caveat that complex lun expansions are required for adding members to a striped meta. This isn't a big deal because we already have a fairly complex lun expansion procedure for current storage.

So my question is, what is the largest practical/recommended size for striped meta creation? What happens when too many members are used to create a striped meta?
