HypermaxOS 5977 expand thin LUN - SRDF/A

Hello,

I've searched lot of documents from dell/emc but I was not able to find a procedure on how to expand a replicated thin LUN. I understand that on 5977 I can do an online expansion of a thin LUN just specifying the new size but what if the LUN is part of a SRDF/A replication.

Is it enough to expand the source LUN and the replicated LUN will be automatically expanded or I need to remove the replication, expand the source and target volume and recreate the replication ?

Thank you !

Hi,

It looks like both sides can be expanded with the proper options on the command. Page 233 https://dell.to/3aYDj8W

Thanks for the link but it seems it doesn't work with 5977

so, here what I've tested:
vmax850f - 5977
aaaa -> bbbb (srdf/a)

symcli 8.4 -> This operation is not allowed on an RDF device
symcli 9.0 -> This operation is not allowed on an RDF device

I've tried with different settings for replication: suspend, split.
Same result if you want to expand source device -> This operation is not allowed on an RDF device

symdev modify -sid XX -tdev -cap 1000 -captype mb -dev AAAA -v -rdfg 33 –nop

As per documentation, it should expand both devices, aaaa and bbbb
