LUN to LUN Migration in VMAX
Hi Team,
We have 5 devices which are mapped to Oracle DB prod servers. We came to know that application is getting performance issues.
As part of analysis i found those 2 out of 5 devices are concatenated meta devices and 3 are single(single) devices.
I know that we cant say this is only the issue for performance issue. Hence, i would like to create 5 Striped meta devices and migrate each device to each striped meta devices within the thin pool. In current situation, it is hard to get downtime or host level migration , etc etc.
Is there any way that we can do device - device migration in VMAX.
i have good knowledge on VLUN migration between pools!!!, but i don't want to migrate these devices to another pool.

There is no method internal to the VMAX that can be used to migrate from one thin device to another online. However there are two commands that can be used to assist in this effort:
symconfigure form meta (can be used online to convert a single TDEV to a concat TDEV meta)
symconfigure convert meta (can be used online to convert a concat TDEV meta to a striped TDEV meta)
