Migration path for smi provider 4.6 to 8.x for VMX

In 8.x provider, CIMObjectPath have been changed, like (SYMMETRIX+79877999 to SYMMETRIX-+-79877999).  We have been managing VMAX   using provider 4.6 now we need to support 8.x also.  we are keeping some important CIMObjectPaths in db (RDBMS).  they have also removed extent composition profile which was vital in providing Concretediskextents associated to volume.   if customer migrates to 8.x then our product failed collect/monitor it.  so I would like to know what kind of migration path is defined to support backward compatibility. do we have to write new  collector from scratch to support 8.x.
