On VMAX, when do I need to run symconfigure to map/unmap devices?
With the use of auto-provisioning on VMAX, I can use symaccess to map(-add options) or unmap(-unmap option) devices.
My question is, in what situations, I would have to use symconfigure to map or unmap devices?
Thank you!

only when you create new devices but actual mapping masking should be done with symaccess. If someone used symaccess to remove devices from a storage group and forgot to to add -unmap ..devices will remain mapped to FAs and you have to use symconfigure to unmap them.
