Port Flag overrides in VMax

Hi all,

I have a querey on portflag overrides. We have enabled the D flags on IG level for Linux servers and other c,sc3,spc2 flags are enabled in director level.

As i see in below output only the enabled flags will override the portflags or it will override all the director level flags.

Port Flag Overrides   : Yes
  Enabled             : Disable_Q_Reset_on_UA(D)
  Disabled            : N/A
Consistent Lun        : No

Do i need to enable other 3 flags in IG level.

Vmax : 5876.229

Thanks

sathish

Only the flag enabled on the IG will be overridden, the other flags set at the port level will also be seen as enabled.  If you wanted to override an enabled flag on the FA, you would then disable it at the IG level.

Make sense?

even though only the flags enabled on the IG will be overriden - sometimes you have to enable a flag for an IG which is already enabled for the port(s). E.g. we tried to enable OS2007 for an IG and received an errormessage

The host port flag SYMAPI_HBA_FLG_SCSI_SUPPORT1(os2007) requires host port flag SYMAPI_HBA_FLG_SPC2_PROTOCOL_VERSION(SPC2) to also be set on the group level with the same state(enabled/disabled)

So in our configuration we had to enable SPC2 and OS2007 even though SPC2 was already enabled for the FA's. In my understanding it's to ensure that the configuration of the port can be changed (SPC2 disabled) without affecting the initiators in this IG. May make sense but I found no official statement/document for this behaviour.
