Subscription %

What is subscription % ? Is there any impact if we increase the subscription % when it is getting closer to the fixed value which was set previously ?

Thin provisioning has this value based on the storage space allocated from the pool.

Example, storage space from a pool can be over allocated than what is available in the pool. That over capacity is shown under subscription column.

Say I have a storage pool of 1 TB, and I have allocated 700 GB out of that pool. The subscription values are calculated and it would show you as the subscription value as 70%.

Or

Say I have a storage pool of 1 TB, and I have allocated 2 TB out of that pool. The subscription values are calculated based on available and allocated and it would show you as the subscription value as 200%.

You can restrict the overall allocation from a pool configuring the subscription value.

Be careful using the word allocated when talking about thin devices as it has a very specific meaning.  In your response, it looks like you are using allocated to mean provisioned or bound, but with thin devices allocated means that amount of space that is actually being consumed within the pool.

The subscription rate on the pool is calculated by dividing the capacity of the thin devices bound to the pool by the capacity of the pool.  A subscription limit can be set on the pool which can limit the capacity of thin devices that can be bound to the pool.
