Tracking FAST VP extent movement and viewing movement plan

Is there a way in FAST VP like FAST to view the device movement plan and the movement history ?

I am also trying to deduce a way to find the details of where the device extents are residing courtesy FAST VP movement.

I tried with all the commands but in vain.

Below are the details :

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

In FAST we execute :

symfast -sid xxx list -plan

when i execute the same in the VMAXe i get the below:

==========================

EMC@slc-shs304 ~

$ symfast -sid 525 list -history -vp

'-vp': Option conflicts with another option.

EMC@slc-shs304 ~

$ symfast -sid 525 list -history

The requested feature is not supported for this Enginuity or SYMAPI version

EMC@slc-shs304 ~

$ symfast -sid 525 list -plan

The requested feature is not supported for this Enginuity or SYMAPI version

EMC@slc-shs304 ~

$ symfast -sid 525 list -plan -vp

'-vp': Option conflicts with another option.

We have a couple of VMAXe  details below:

Global PRC is 10% and 1% more for the EFD pool.

You can get the pool allocation for each TDEV.

symcfg -sid 92 list -tdev -range 0f0:0ff –detail

In SMC, you can click on the TDEV under Devices -> TDEV -> Bound or in Pools -> Thin Pools and there will be tabs for TDEV Bind Info and Other Pool Info, which will have a breakdown of the TDEV’s allocations

Even if we were able to tell you the address ranges we were planning to move, I doubt it would be any more useful than the capacity per TDEV we give you now.  With full volume, it is easier to know what data is on what volume.

I need to track the pool usage ( not the exact data on the Tdevs ) , that is resulting due to FAST VP movements ( current stats vs the stats when Tdevs were manually bounnd to the pool ).

symoptmz is not available.

This will exhibit the the Tdev details pertaining to which pool its bound .. etc

But will this also display the information if the device extents are currently residing on multiple pools due to movement by FAST VP ?

I guess it will not be possible to view the FAST VP movement plans from SE or SMC , correct me if wrong ..

By tracking the pool usage i meant , to track which device is residing at which pool ( tier ) so that we can plan device assignments to new servers more precisely.

A given 768k extent cannot exist on more than one tier.

===================

i meant a Tdev can have extents residing on multiple tiers in an environment where FAST VP is active.

My concern and question is circled around that. how to track the Tpool usage when FAST VP is moving/removing extents to/from the Tdevs bound to the pools , thus affecting the overall usage and subscription of the pool.

You can monitor the overall pool usage several ways and each TDEV usage in the pool as well.

In a normal FAST VP environment this will be changing all the time, based on the current performance statistics.

You can control how much can go where, and how much of each tier is reserved.
