Unable to query primary DGs from DR management server

Do you see the DGs on the DR site? Have you enabled the mirroring and enabled GNS daemon from option file?

restart the GNS daemon at both sites and check the storgnsd logs.

restarted at DR side.But at production side,the restrt got hung..the serivce showing as stopping now

I dont have any DGs created at DR site and both options have been enabled

this task not showing in task manager..currently i am unable to query my

DGs from primary host as well

you can kill storgnsd from task manager.

restarted the service on both sides..checking the logs now

Running the Prod Device group query from DR management server will work only when GNS deamon is running and DR management host is local to any of the symmetrix boxes,which are  locally accessed by Prod management host.. I believe.. Correct me If I am wrong..  Thank you.

In case of RDF DGs and mirroring is enabled on RDF1 site. GNS daemons mirrors the RDF1 DGs to R2 site as RDF2 type DGs. The condition is the local Symm on R1 site should be visible as Remote on the R2.

I have opened with EMC and they told that my DR Daemon option file was corrupted and they have rebuilt it.Currently I am able to query all DGs but unable to query by sym wise.

ie,

If I Issue symdg list  it will display all DGs  but If I issue symdg -sid <> list,it will no anything

We have a similar issue, where GNS is not propagating  R1 RDF-Type DGs  to our R2 array.

Did you find a fix for your issue? Your last update states that EMC asked you to rebuild a corrupt daemons_options file.

Check your options file and make sure SYMAPI_USE_GNS = ENABLE is set ensure the # is removed from the start of the line.

Do you have GNS_REMOTE_MIRROR enabled on the R1 SE server that isn't propating the RDF2 type group on the R2 SE server? This isn't enabled by default when GNS is in use. Also there are exceptions where GNS cannot remotely mirror certain types of RDF groups with specific SRDF configurations such as:

◆ Groups containing any concurrent devices

◆ Groups containing any cascaded devices

◆ Composite groups comprised of device groups

◆ Groups containing any hop-2 devices (including 2TGT, 2BCV, 2VDEV devices)

◆ Device and composite groups of type=ANY

◆ If a standard device in the group is paired with an remote SRDF BCV

◆ If there are no standard SRDF devices in the group
