Test fails with SRM5 using MirrorView SRA

Question

I am trying to run a test failover of an SRM5 protection group and I geep getting the following error;           Error - Failed to sync data on replica devices. SRA command 'syncOnce' didn't return a response. I am using MirrorView over FC for the replication. SRM is able to discover the VNX and CX arrays I have tried creating a snapshot on both sides with VMWARE_SRM_SNAP in the name. I can not find any documentation on setting up SRM5 using Mirrorview. The release notes have little information. I found a video on youtube that demonstrates Mirrorview insight which is supposed to get installed when the Mirrorview SRA is installed. In the video it shows that from the start menu you should see; EMC --> Navisphere           -->EMC Mirrorview Site Recovery Adapter --> MirrorViewInsightForVMware I don't have any of these folders listed under the start menu, yet Navisphere, Mirrroview SRA and VNX SRA are all installed on both sites http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YorwLnxo7Fw If I look under C:\Program Files(x86)\VMware\VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager\scripts I would expect to see \SAN\MirrorView SRA but the folders are not there. Can anyone help? Check this thread for SRM5/MV/CX/VNX/SRA info.  I set up a pair of CXs w/ MV and SRM 5 using the VNX SRA.  Info was buried in doc, but VNX SRA supports CX4 w/ MV for SRM 5. hth! @dboftlp

One point that I can answer straightaway that MVIV (MirrorViewInsightForVMware) was for SRA 4 (SRM 1.4) not for SRM 5 Not 100% sure though on your error message Gearoid

Info was burried in which Doc?I have searched all of ECN and cannot find anything that helps.If I select the SRA tab under Array Managers in SRM, it shows that the CX3-20 is supported as well as the VNX5100 I

Hi, MirrorView Insight is for SRM 4 or earlier and is not compatible with SRM 5. Please send logs and any other pertinent information to nastoolsupport@emc.com and we will respond. THanks, Ken

I worked with the SRA developers to solve this.

The logs showed a problem handling storage group names with spaces.

Installed a later version of VNX and it fixed the issue.
