Thank you for the post; I tried a few things, without much success.
Wonder which user has the greatest privilege ( can do/change everything).
According to the documentation, nasadmin is supposed to be a local user; but I have always logged on nasadmin user as global user in GUI; would there be any problem with this?);
From my notes in the past, when we had problem logging into the control station from VNX cli, the problem was supposedly resolved by changing passwords in 3 different places in VNX/Unisphere GUI ( Settings - Global users , Local users for File, and Local users for Block). But, as can be seen, there are currently no users specified in Local users for Block ( Does this make sense?). Also, at one point, I believe we received a new control station as a warranty replacement; does a new control station require special setup ( Are there ways to backup or restore control station settings?)?
And currently, I can do “su - nasadmin” in VNX cli, but it has limited privilege ( cannot act as root); also the password for nasadmin in VNX cli is different from nasadmin password for the GUI login ( wonder how that can be explained). Also wonder, when I attempt to login to GUI, if I can be locked out after so many incorrect passwords.
Thanks for response. The root account does NOT work from cli ; I want to use root account ( root privilege) in cli so that I could address the issue of VNX cli's root dir ( / ) being out of space ( 100% used up); As I try "su - " in cli, it prompts me to change root password right away, but does not accept the new password for some reason ( although I believe I type the current root password correctly, and repeat the new password twice correctly).
You will need to open a support ticket to get the password reset by a support technician. When you are unable to change it via the link I provided earlier, then it needs to be done by a support agent.

Which password is the one you want to use? GUI or CLI? Does the root account work from CLI?
