cifs service disabled by default?

Hi,

im wondering if the cifs service ( network services ) is disabled by default?

Just had an failover test and didn't get the cifs server accessable on the destination site.... Then I realised that the cifs service was disabled....

Not sure if this was default ...?? NFS service was enabled ( by default )...I can't remember that I need to enable cifs service in any installation before.

Regards

Thank you ... Any good reason why NFS is enabled by default?

Not sure. That's how the arrays comes by default. There must be a reason why EMC's engineering team decided but I don't know.

It is disabled by default. Needs to be manually enabled.

This is only for the initial install – there the GUI or server_service can start the CIFS service

Once you have it configured and a CIFS server created it will always be started automatically after a reboot
