And right here we see steps to resolve one of the issues mentioned... the fact that customers didn't know about the VI plugin. I came back from EMC World in Boston with this tidbit of information that made my VMware admins so happy it could have been embarrassing (fortunately they are all located in another city).
Announcements like this (or at least highlighting them) here are an excellent way to get the work out to the end users... or will be once this opens up and the community starts pouring in!

Glad your team was excited about the plug-ins. It'll be just a couple more weeks before the next version of the plug-in is available for the Unified platforms. The engineers are hard at work putting the finishing touches on it. Stay tuned for postings on availability for download. We'd certainly like to get your feedback on how you are utilizing the plug-in and what features you might like to see in the future. Looking forward to this forum providing the opportunity to interact more directly with our customers.

Thanks Eric!
Can't wait to try them out here as well. We're about to move our old 3.5 cluster to 4.0 vSphere....then it's Flare 30 and Dart 6....then the VMware plugin fun begins.
We're looking towards allowing our Service Operation Center who currently does VMware provisioning for us to further their abilities through use of the plugins and also being able to allow them to do storage provisioning as well.
New things I saw from EMC this week look good. Keep up the great work!
