FAST-CACHE : How to install
Can someone share a procedure on how to install FAST-CACHE on a VNX5300. I am not seeing the Fast-cache tab on system properties. I opened a case with EMC and they referred me to the PS team. I told them we are not buying PS for a procedure that is documented somewhere on primus....

If the FAST Cache tab is not seen then that means you don't have the enabler loaded. Did you purchase FAST Cache?

Is using the enabler documented anywhere?

You will first need to install the FAST Cache enabler using the USM (Unisphere Service Manager) if you purchased this option and have access to it. After the enabler has been installed, you will now see the FAST Cache tab when you select “System Properties”. Once you have the tab and you have at least two flash drives available, then you will be able to follow the instruction from the video in the link below to configure FAST Cache correctly.

The enabler is just a *.ena file that can be found on the media that comes with array when purchased. If you purchased the FAST Suite or the FAST Cache only option, then you will be able to copy the enabler from the media upload to the array using USM and install making the feature available.
If you did purchase the software, but don't have the media, then contact your EMC AM and they can work with a TC to make the enabler available to you.

Doesn't matter, you can point it to either one and it will work, but I usually point to CS0 or SPA if a Block Only system.
Once you login, select software\system software\install software, then select the option "Install VNX OE for Block and / or enablers". Once here, browse to the enabler file, upload and follow the steps through the list of checks and balances to complete the install.
Once completed and you select to commit the package the FAST Cache capability will be available immediately.
Good Luck

Does the installation require a reboot of the SPs?
