Lun Trespass - VNX

Hello All,

I have luns that are on a VNX that are trespassed.  The luns are in a pool, raid5 and are thick.

naviseccli -h spaxxx getlun -name -trespass

I was wanting to trespass a single lun and the below didn't work:

naviseccli -h spaxxx trespass lun 60

or

naviseccli -h spaxxx trespass 60

I know I should be able to trespass all with the below for both sp's:

naviseccli -h spa/bxxx trespass mine

Also, Im trying to find if there will be any risk with trespassing thick luns with pools?  Any good docs for trespass?  All I can find on google is just some threads....

I believe I know why the single trespass cmd failed, I need to be on the sp that the lun will be trespassed to, but would like to still know more on the risks before committing.  I checked the performance charts and do see more usage on say spa vs spb, which is the reason for wanting to move the luns back to their default sp.  There are quite a few luns trespassed.

yes, you need to execute the trespass mine against the target SP.

As far as trespassing goes....  If you're worried, do them in batches from Unisphere. I've never had an issue doing it, but if i was considering doing a whole lot, I'd probably choose a time that's non-peak.

Always try and have the Default & Current owners the same as the Allocation owner to avoid i/o having to traverse the SP's CMI bus to reach the private FLARE LUNs for the pool, possibly causing latency, bottlenecks etc, although VNX2 doesn't suffer from this as much.

Always good to have consistency though.

I'll see if I can locate a ref document.
