Migrate Filesystem and VDM to another Storage Pool for File
What is the procedure for moving a filesystem and vdm from one storage pool to another with replication?
Example:
Fs1 and vdm1 are in Storage Pool for File A. We would like to move this to Storage Pool for File B.
What is the procedure? Do we need to restart replication?

easiest is probably to use VNX Replicator and essentially perform loopback replication. You will need to schedule "brief" downtime to failover

Hi dynamox
Can you elaborate on this a bit? I've done plenty of remote failovers and understand the downtime incurred.
If you are performing loopback replication to another Storage Pool for File (going from PoolA to PoolB), are there any extra steps required? Or you just switchover VDM, switchover file system, done? I understand there would be a pause as source goes r/o before destination becomes active r/w. Does it still drop all sessions even though you are staying on the same box?
This has come up a few times and I have yet to do it, but have always felt like it should be easy button. My last bit of googling the topic makes me think that isn't the case, though.

yep it's that simple, switchover VDM, switchover file system and you are done. You will see that CIFS share will become unavailable when you switchover VDM and you pretty much can't get to anything until you switchover file system. Once everything is back and you are happy, you can delete replication sessions and old file systems.
