Storage Pools with Different Drives Possible
Just re-initialized a VNXe3100 and we have 24 - 15K 600Gb(SAS) and 12 - 10K 300Gb(SAS) drives. When I started the storage wizard and selected either Automatic configure disks, or manually create a storage pool for File Shares, the wizard came up and executed the following configuration.
Total Disks - 33
Raid Type - 5
QTY 22 of our 15K 600Gb
QTY 11 of our 10K 300Gb
So this is new to me to be able to mix drive sizes and speeds in a single storage pool. Is this expected behavior or should I consider this a really bad idea?

Contacted tech support and I think my question is already answered by their response.
"you could do the 10k and 15k disks in the same pool but your going to speed limit to the 10k"
"It isn't a recommended plan"
Being that we just need as much space as possible, this pool will be used for as a target for replication I'm going to move forward and hope it works.
