VNX 5300 - rebooting control stations

I have a client who can only access File operations by accessing Unisphere directly from the SP's.

There's an error with the CS where:

Naviagent respawning too fast; disabled for 5 minutes.

So I want to reboot the CS.

But what's the best way?

1.  Reboot the Active first and then reboot the standby?

or

2.  Go to the Standby and do a CS takeover then once back up go to the other CS (which should now be Standby) and then do a takeover from there?

Cheers

Go to the Standby and do a CS takeover then once back up go to the other CS (which should now be Standby) and then do a takeover from there.

If you reboot the Active CS first and any unfortunate event happens and suppose it doesn't come up and is unable to pass the load to Standby, What then?! Hence, Option 2.

The reboots went well but my problem isn't solved.  Thanks for the posts.

I can login to Unisphere using SPA or SPB but it's limited to Block only.  I can't access the FILE side.

If I connect to unisphere using the Control Station IP then I can access everything.

When logging into the SP's there's a certificate issue where one of the certificates is NOT accepted.

When logging into the CS ALL certificates are accepted.

I've tried opening Certificate Management on the SP's and "Accepting Always" the certificates.  But this does not work.

Not sure what to do next at this point.

I'm looking at the ca_certificate.pem file on the CS

cat ca_certificate.pem
Certificate:
    Data:
        Version: 3 (0x2)
        Serial Number: 1 (0x1)
        Signature Algorithm: sha1WithRSAEncryption
        Issuer: O=Celerra Certificate Authority, CN=emcnas_i0
        Validity
            Not Before: May  1 21:05:10 2012 GMT
            Not After : May  7 21:05:10 2017 GMT

So I changed the date on the PC to try and land within that time range.  But when I did and then tried to reconnect a different message came up saying there's a date issue with the certificate.   I noticed the date it listed was May 22, 2012.  I'm assuming that's from the PC side.

I'm not very certificate knowledgeable.

The Certificate file is shows the session. The Certificate is expired thats the reason why you are getting that error.

It has nothing to do with your workstation date and time. SP generates the Certificates for the sessions.

(Have a look at this: https://community.emc.com/message/646656 for more on Certificates)

As far is my understanding goes, you can start with clearing browser cookies and see if it prompts you?

If yes, still no joy - We might need to generate new Certificate. (Automatic Process by SP) but again I need to check that first.

Let me know what happens once, you clear the cookies etc.

The problem was on the domain between Main CS and SP's, you need to –unfuse (naviseccli) and fuse again.
