Vostro 200 - Fan is running, no boot or monitor display

Hello,

My Vostro 200 won't display to monitor, or it could be that it won't boot up. I am 100% certain the monitor is not the issue. But I haven't touched the vostro 200 in a long time. There are no beeps. When I first plug it in, I can see orange light inside the vostro 200, but the power button doesn't work for around a minute. The power button goes first blank, then orange to blank to orange, then I can turn it on to blue after around a minute. The fan runs, but it does not display to the monitor and i am certain the monitor is not the issue. help would be appreicidated. thank you.

best regards.

Blinking Amber power button can be Bad Power supply.

Specific components in things like power supplies fail whether you use it or not which is why they are removable.

The pattern of the blink tells the failure. Given the age of the system I would start with the DL2032 battery.

Note: The blinking power button patterns consists of 2 sets of numbers. They split into First Group(Amber Blinks), Second Group(Amber Blinks).

  • First Group: The LED blinks in Amber up to 9 times then pauses for 1.5 seconds before running the second group.
  • Second Group: The LED blinks in Amber up to 9 times then pauses for 3 seconds before running the first group again.

Example: No Memory detected (2,3), The LED blinks two times amber followed by a pause, then blinks three times Amber, pause, etc. This pattern continues until the system is powered off.

Wow ... Jeezums man, I'm literally having almost the same exact issue myself, I actually came here looking for help. If I find anything I'll let you know!! This is very frustrating because this has just been sitting for years, that's it. It should be perfectly fine, like how it was stored. I don't know what can be causing this but hopefully there are others out there with this issue as well.
