Dell Update producing false positives

We're using the latest version of Dell Update (see versions below), running under Windows 11. We've experienced identical issues on both our XPS and Vostro devices.

It seems that unless a driver update is performed through Dell Update (or SupportAssist), it continues to go unrecognized in these apps.

For example - one of many - we downloaded and installed the Realtek-High-Definition-Audio-Driver_YFTRX_WIN_6.0.9363.1_A03.EXE from Dell's Drivers & Downloads page. Device manager (under Sound, video and game controllers) shows the update was successful, and that we're now on version 6.0.9363.1, yet when we run Dell Update, it continues to flag the driver as requiring update.

This has happened repeatedly with different drivers. Historically, only if we perform the update through Dell Update or SupportAssist, will the driver no longer erroneously be flagged for updating.

In Settings --> Apps --> Apps & features we have two installed "Dell Update" apps:

  A. Dell Update, version 4.3.12, and
  B. Dell Update for Windows 10, version 4.3.0

For "A", through (Settings --> Apps --> Apps & features, --> right-click --> Advanced options), we both "Repaired" and "Reset" the app, neither of which had any impact. Note: Dell's Drivers & Downloads page only includes Dell Update 4.3.0 - there is no driver for version 4.3.12 listed.

In Settings, "B" only has an option to uninstall. Which we did, then downloaded / reinstalled "Dell Update Application for Windows 10" (version 4.3.0) from the Drivers & Downloads page, but this also had no impact.

Another curious inconsistency is that although the Dell Update app displays version 4.3.0 in the Title Bar, if we right-click Dell Update in the Start Menu, and select App Settings, it brings up "A" (4.3.12) and not "B" (4.3.0) in Settings. What a sloppy mess!
