It's possible that the power settings on your Vostro 3425 are configured to increase the display brightness when the AC adapter is plugged in. Here's how you can check and adjust those settings:

  1. Click on the battery icon in the system tray (near the clock) and select "Power & sleep settings."

  2. Scroll down and click on "Additional power settings."

  3. Next to your current power plan, click on "Change plan settings."

  4. Click on "Change advanced power settings."

  5. In the "Advanced settings" window, expand the "Display" section.

  6. Look for a setting called "Display brightness" or something similar. If there is a sub-section for "On battery" and "Plugged in," check to see if the brightness level is set differently for each.

  7. If the brightness level is set differently for "Plugged in," you can adjust it by clicking on the "+" or "-" buttons to increase or decrease the brightness level.

  8. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save your changes.

If this doesn't resolve the issue, it's possible that there's a hardware problem with your laptop's display or AC adapter.
