Dual boot Win 11 & Ubuntu

Hi, 

 

Does my PC support dual booting Win 11 and Ubuntu. I tried several times and followed the instructions as given on How to Install Ubuntu and Windows 8 Through Windows 11 as a Dual Boot on your Dell Computer | Dell India. However it doesnt recognise my USB and goes to Win 11 login screen. Can you please help how to dual boot. I dont want to use VM bcos when using VM the total RAM usage is hitting 13 GB (8 gb for VM) unnecessarily. 

 

Also any pointers on Virtualization settings in BIOS. i dont see it in my BIOS. How To Enable or Disable Hardware Virtualization on Dell Systems | Dell India 

However Virtualisation has been existing since Sandy Bridge(2012) and now being 2022 i dont understand why its not enabled in BIOS by default. Please provide some pointers.

To dual boot Windows 11 and Ubuntu, you need to make sure that the following prerequisites are met:

  1. Your PC's hardware is compatible with both operating systems.
  2. You have created a bootable USB drive with Ubuntu installed on it.
  3. You have changed the boot order in the BIOS to boot from USB first.
  4. You have enough hard drive space to install both operating systems.

If your PC is not recognizing the USB drive, try the following steps:

  1. Try a different USB port.
  2. Try a different USB drive.
  3. Check if the USB drive is bootable.

Regarding virtualization support in your BIOS, if the option is not available, it means your system does not support hardware virtualization. However, hardware virtualization has been a standard feature in most modern CPUs since Sandy Bridge, so it is possible that your system may support it.

To check if your system supports hardware virtualization, you can run a software like CPU-Z or use the System Information tool in Windows. If the feature is supported, it should be listed as Virtualization, VT-x, or Intel Virtualization Technology.

If the feature is supported and still not available in the BIOS, try updating your BIOS to the latest version, which may include the virtualization option. You can download the latest BIOS version from the Dell support website for your specific model.
