Vostro 3520 Docking Station

Vostro 3520

Vostro 3520

Has anyone had any luck pairing up a docking station with the Vostro 3520 with windows 11? I've checked the compatibility PDF (https://www.delltechnologies.com/asset/en-au/products/electronics-and-accessories/technical-support/dell_docking_compatibility_guide.pdf) and it isn't listed on there...

Thanks!

There are two different versions of this model -- one has USB-C support and can output video over USB-C, while the other has no USB-C and cannot output video over USB natively.

The USB-C version can use a USB-C dock;  the other can only use a USB hub.

You haven't mentioned what you plan to connect to the docking station, which comes into the picture in choosing a docking station.

There is no mention of power delivery over USB with this model, so don't expect any dock to be able to charge the system's battery or power the system.

Thanks for the reply! The laptop arrives tomorrow so I'll just hope there's a USB-C port. I had no hope of powering the laptop through the dock so that's no biggie. My hope is to get a dock to drive two FHD monitors, LAN, and a few USB peripherals...

No luck, no USB-C so I guess I'll try what the Dell support AND Dell sales suggested and give the D3100 a try...

Did you get the D3100 to work?

Sorry to say, no...I ended up returning the laptop and dock. The software for the docking station specifically stated that the laptop was not compatible.

Hi @fldevs,

Hope so you're doing good, this doesn't necessarily mean that it can't be paired with a docking station. It is important to consider factors such as the laptop's available ports and power requirements, as well as the specifications and compatibility information provided by the docking station manufacturer. Checking the laptop's available ports and reviewing the docking station's specifications can help determine if they are compatible. If needed, contacting Dell's technical support can provide further assistance and guidance regarding docking station compatibility with the Vostro 3520 and Windows 11.

Hope so this will work for you!

Regards,

Recently got the Dell Vostro 3520 without the USB-C and paired with Dell D3100 dock. Issues with laptop shutting down at night. Have to restart next morning. Not happening every day. When I leave for the day, I always restart so it’ll pick up any updates. IT has went in and adjusted settings and most recently, lasted about 4 days or so and went down again. Running 2 monitors thru HDMI ports, camera and a sound bar thru usb ports. Not a good situation if or when I need to remote in from home. Previously had a Dell Latitude 5500 for 5+ years and no problems except slowing down and wasn’t solid state.
