What I have seen so far, I suspect vplex does not expose underlying disk properties out to the frontend. All vplex LUN's seem to look the same to ESX.

However, it is possible to override ESX's automatic claiming setting per LUN. So you can mark presented LUNs of your choice as SSD, and ESX will assume their are actual SSD for all purposes. Perhaps this can help you.
