14 digit code for window's xp

Question

I seem to have lost my 14 digit product code for window's xp home .  where do i go to find this.  I am waiting on dell support and have gone to microsoft website with no success so far.  can you help me?

I thought it was a 25 digit code. Did you look on your tower-usually on the side or if it a laptop try looking on the bottom of the laptop. Message Edited by aps@sun on 03-16-2004 07:30 PM

Product Key finders will show the Installed Product Key.
If the XP OS was OEM DELL installed then it will show the GENERIC Product Key installed by OEM DELL as they don't install the COA Sticker Product Key supplied with Computer.
This Key will work with DELL reinstallation XP CD's only.
If the XP OS was from a retail Microsoft XP CD when it will show the Product Key supplied with the XP CD.

the product key should be on a label either on the side or the back of the computer.. i have also seen it listed in the documentation that came with my dell. when i reformatted, i was not asked to enter the product key..
