Accessing the net

My desktop computer became infected to the point that I had to reinstall windows.

Problem 1, my Window XP CD that came with the system is not working. Ok, I used the XP CD that I got with my lap top.

Problem 2, I can't access the net through my Comcast connect. Comcast says that I need a net driver.

Has anyone had this problem? If so can you point me in the right direction. What driver do I need to connect? And how can I get the driver if I can't access the net with the desktop?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I have a Dell Desktop with windows XP.

When I contacted Comcast they said I needed to install a net driver and then I would connect right to the net.

I guess all other drivers are there.

we need a number like 3000 ,4600, and so on, you guess all the drivers are there, well I guess you don't. there might be a chipset driver missing, nic card driver missing. got to have more info.

My system is a Dell Deminsion 2400.

I really don't know about the other drivers. Would I lose a chipset or nic card driver just by reinstalling Windows? If so, can I download to a disc and install?
