Thanks to the kind person that posted Audigy MB for Vista at a place we aren't supposed to mention. My registration code worked and that is all we had asked for from Dell was to post it. If you had not paid for a registration it wouldn't work anyway so they wouldn't be giving away anything for free. But the way with this file you were also given a choice to purchase a registration key but my previous one worked. I don't know why Dell could not have done this for us. So I guess thanks for nothing.
Tried this on my XPS400 and it
didn't work for me. Just so others who don't have laptops mentioned above realize this may or may not work on your system. Fortunately I had imaged the drive using Acronis True Image Home 10 so had no trouble restoring image. It was also easy to delete the update using the add remove from control panel.
I would suggest that those who try this on different models should report results on this thread so others can benefit. Many thanks to the person (he knows who he is) that brought this to my attention!
don't waste your money, I went through the audigy value update for vista and paid 20 bucks for an activation key and successfully downloaded some software which displays but does not function. EAX, equalizer, hall effects etc which allow you to move sliders around with no change in audio. Certainly does not enable any wave out recording. It does absolutely nothing
