Blue screen - driver problem?

I have started getting a Blue screen occasionally (every other day or so) when my Dimension 5000 with XP is idle. The stop code varies but when I report it to Microsoft they always tell me it is a driver problem. However I have not done any recent driver updates or added any new hardware recently.

Is there any way of tracking down what causes the problem?

Usually the BSOD tells you what .dll or .sys is causing the problem. Post the entire and exact BSOD message, and maybe somebody can help you further.

Thanks - next time it happens I will make a note of it and post it.

My BSOD message was Stop 0x0000007E  (0xC0000005,0x806E494F,0xF7A85C30,0xF7A8592C)

Does this mean anything to anyone?

Try reinstalling the video driver. Use the latest one.
