cable tv on computer

Hi Everyone,
Not sure where to ask this so I will ask here.  I am wondering what has to be done in order to watch cable tv threw my computer.  I have a cable modem for my computer.  If I need to post more about my computer just let me know...
Thank you

You need a TV tuner card to do this, cable modem is for Internet access.

What model of PC is it?

Thank you very much...I will check them out...Do I use the same cable that runs into my modem or do I need to run a different cable to the computer for that.
    Thank,
    John

If you just want to watch TV, one of the less expensive one's will do, the more expensive ones will do a better job of Video capture, be sure to read the reviews on the ones you are interested in.

You use the same cable that goes to your TV. Yes a standard coax cable.

You will probably need to put a splitter on the incoming cable - one output to the modem, one to the TV tuner.

You will need an amplifier if you split the cable.

Not neccessarily. My incoming cable is split three ways at the service entrance. One of those has a plain splitter feeding modem and gee, another splitter that feeds a vcr and the computer's tuner. All works fine.

    YMMV
