Cannot install intel graphics 4000 driver

Question

Hi all

I have the dell inspiron 15r sepcial edition with the bios up to date from the dell driver support website. I also need to update the latest intel hd graphics driver but every time i run the installer from the dell website it says my computer does not meet the minimum requirements to install it which i dotn understand cause it says its for my laptop. I can install this driver from the device manager but every time i do it then causes problems for my radeon switchable graphics which i why i think i need the dell version of the laptop but it doesn't want to install on my machine.

Can anyone help???

What Operating System do you have installed?

Likely only the 64 bit driver is listed (many of the drivers are 32 and 64 bit but the Intel graphics isn't). If you installed the 32 bit version of WIndows 7 or Windows 8 it makes sense for the error message to display. Also if you are installing the 32 bit OS, why?

I have windows 8 64bit installed on my computer with switchable graphics. The AMD driver is up to date but cannot update the intel drver. I have only been downloading the driver 64 windows 8 driver from the dell driver page.

i get this message under the graphics section after running the intel utility

A customized computer manufacturer driver is installed on your computer. The Intel Driver Update Utility is not able to update the driver. Installing a generic Intel driver instead of the customized computer manufacturer driver may cause technical issues. Contact your computer manufacturer for the latest driver for your computer.

yes thats the driver. I just tried to install it again and it does not work. Keeps on saying unable to install as my system does not meet the minimum requirements.....

I can download a driver update from the device manager or windows update but after it is installed it then causes a problem for the amd graphics card so dont want to do this.
