Can't get Norton Live Updates after installing XP SP2
I installed XP SP2 and everything works fine except I can not receive Norton's Live Updates for Personal Firewall or Antivirus. I've disabled the Windows XP firewall and opened the ports that Norton specifies. Any ideas? Thanks.... Dell Dimension 8100

I've uninstalled and reinstalled it and it seems to work now. This is before I was alerted of the following site:
http://service.symantec/spinfo it give a lot of info on what to do.

Hi there.
Basically, the cause of your problem about not receiving updates is because of Windows Security Centre can detect the presence of Symantec's products, however it cannot detect the "status" i.e. that it has been started and fully working (by default) due to tamper protecton built into Symantec's Apps. You need to apply a hotfix from Symantec which is now available to correct your problem.
This applies to both Antivirus and Firewall products.
For "home / small business users" of Symantec products click here for the FAQ:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/sp2/faq.html
For "Enterprise users" of Symantec products click here for the FAQ:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/enterprise/sp2/faq.html
NB: According to "some" initial reports and dont quote me on this as I need to read up on it, Symantec have actually developed and API which will disable Windows Firewall if you have Symantec's Firewall product installed. Watch out for the virus writers trying to tap into this nice little resource in the near future!
Regards and good luck!
