Computer Freezing

Dell Dimenstion 8250

2.4GHz / 512 RAM

Windows XP

I've been having a problem with my computer for the past 2-3 months. I have a full service warranty with Dell but everytime I call them they take me through one hundred different things that solve nothing and waste about 5 hours of my day. I need to tell them exactly what I need so someone can just come and fix it.

My problem is that after about an hour or sometimes up to 4-5 hours of being on, my computer freezes up. Usually it is accompanied by a loud humming noise coming from the inside of the computer tower.

I am really sick and tired of this problem and since I do have a full service warranty, these Dell people should do something about it.

If anyone has any help, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

could it because the CPU too hot inside? try to take off the casing and take a fan blows toward your motherboard and see the problem still happen again. Cheer!!

bmadden85,

The loud humming noise may be physical problem with your hard drive.

Irtim,

Your computer's slowness may be a result of viruses or spyware. Try running a virus and spyware scans.

It can't be a RAM problem then......What size hard drive do you have and how much of it is used?

Since you bought the computer in March, it should still have warranty. I suggest you call Dell Support and see if they can help you.
