Computer Log In Problems

Inspiron 3593

Inspiron 3593

When I reset my Dell, I get two options. One is to unlock my PC, in this case I used to be able to go to sign in options and use my Microsoft live account. It wasn’t working and keep saying my password was wrong, so I switched it, however it is still saying it doesn’t work. When I restarted it to try to fix that, my Dell instead asked for a “New User” and password. I can’t get by this either or change the password. I cannot get into my computer. If I restart again, I go back to the first login option where it initially says my name and sign in. Once I click that, I can try to sign in with my Microsoft live account (and it once again tells me my password is wrong and to reset it). The password works on my phone to log me into my Microsoft account.

TLDR: I’m in a loop of two log in types for my computer, but neither seem to work or allow me in. How do I go about fixing this? Any advice?

To fix this, you can try the following:

  1. Boot into Safe Mode. To do this, restart your computer and press F8 repeatedly during the startup process. This will open the Advanced Boot Options menu. Select Safe Mode with Networking and press Enter.
  2. Once you are logged into Safe Mode, open the Control Panel.
  3. Click on User Accounts.
  4. Click on Manage User Accounts.
  5. Click on the user account that you are having problems with.
  6. Click on Change Password.
  7. Enter a new password for the user account and click on OK.
  8. Restart your computer and try logging into the user account with the new password.

Hey there!

I've given Step 1 a shot, but it seems like my laptop is having some trouble getting into safe mode. Instead, I keep getting this little pop-up from "Dell Security Manager" asking for the administrator password, which I've unfortunately forgotten. Any advice on what to do next? Thanks!
