Control Panel
A Microsoft Knowledge base article tells me to:
Click Start, and then Click Control Panel. And Click Performance and Maintenance.
When I get Control Panel, I do not find anything about Performance.
There is a Phone and Modem Options

I have set up as Windows Classic style, and don't have show tasks in the folders, instead when I go to control panel all its icons are visible. After telling you to click performance and maintenance the instructions you are following will tell you which icon to click on; So if you have all the icons showing in control panel, just miss out the step of going to performance and maintenance (that just selects a subset of the icons in control panel, a 'feature' of XP that I find singularly useless).

you click start, and then on the menu that pops up, you see "control panel".. if you are using "classic start menu" instead of the default xp "start menu", you will not see "performance and maintenance".. you can adjust the settings by clicking start, then right click on the blue bar at the bottom of the menu that pops up (where you also see "log off", and "turn off computer"), and adjust the settings..

What's that about right clicking a blue bar at the bottom of the menu popping up? I can't see what you are referring to. Can you explain?
