Windows ME

I dowloaded critical update kb891711. When I log in (Juno), the web page does not open. Instead I get 2 error messages: 'msgsrv32 has caused an error in KRNL386.EXE and will now close' and 'Iexplore has caused an error in KERNEL32.DLL and will now close'. PC freezes and I'm forced to restart. To access the web I have to 'end task' kb891711 before loging in. Any suggestions ? Thank you.
