Delete Vista and Install XP // Dimension E520 // Problem!!!!!
Dear all,
I bought a Dimension E520 with Vista installed.
So I tried to install XP by starting from XP Home Edition CD.
I bought a Dimension E520 with Vista installed.
So I tried to install XP by starting from XP Home Edition CD.
After loading all from CD into Windows Setup the following message appears:
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer. If this is the first time you've seen this stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps: Check for viruses on you computer. Remove any newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and then restart your computer. Technical information: *** STOP: 0x0000007B (0xF78E2524, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)"
I don´t know what to do now. Can somebody pls help me??? Thank You!!!!

- Doing a fresh reformat should not give you an issue like this. Are you doing a reformat, that wipes out the hard drive of the current OS, or are you doing something else ?

Actually is a problem it has seen on the forum, try to change on the BIOS the SATA, operation under Drives, to AUTO DETECT. After that, try to install XP back.- Sounds like you didn't load the Intel Matrix Storage Manager drivers when installing XP. Follow the instructions below:1. Download the Intel Matrix Storage Manager from:2. Run the exe file and copy the files that are expanded onto a 3 1/2" floppy disk3. Install XP via CD and it'll prompt you to press F6 in the beginning of the install. Press F64. The installation will ask which driver you want to use. Choose the first one (RAID)5. Continue to install XPIf you don't have a floppy drive, you might have an issue, as there are quite a few USB floppy drives this won't work on. You can always try.Don't switch the RAID settings to Auto. Your drives will be seen as IDE and will run at a slower speed. I did the same thing and noticed a HUGE speed decrease. My XP install took around 25 min with Auto. In RAID mode, it took about 10 min. Hi,I am also considering downgrading from Vista to XP? I have just been told that this is not possible as due to having Vista Home Premium and that only Vista Business or Ultimate users (from Dell tech chat session). Do you believe this to be correct?Regards.
