For some reason,  I can't get this F6 boot  to work...   I pressed it quite a few times and nothing came up.... on the initial screen on a restart, it gives me the option to press F2 for setup and F12 for boot list (or something like that)  but there isn't an option for F6.....   What am I doing wrong??

Go Here:

Choose either the 865 or 875 family...which is your chipset

It is the floppy drive configurator.  You put a floppy in the drive and it creates a driver disk for you.  just boot to it.  once you have made the disk, turn your computer off,on reboot hit the F6 KEY
and
Hit any key to boot into the DVD.  Then start installing Vista.  It will keep installing until it looks for a drive to install to.  The box comes up empty...hit more options.  Search for a driver...put in your driver disk.  It will recognize 82801ER Raid Conrtroller...hit enter...keep going.  20 minutes later you're in Vista

F6 boot to Safe Mode with comand prompt, type in the letter of your DVD drive (d:) hit enter.
then type SETUP, it will start your install, when you get the scsi raid error place your disk in your floppy drive and hit F6 and it will start the install.
took me about 90 min. my computer  took a long time at one point getting past 27%(about 20 min.)
dont worry it will keep going.
good luck..

Ahh, alright thanks :smileyhappy:     Now,  if I install Vista this way, do I still need to back up my files?  Is this a 'clean' install?  :smileyindifferent:
