Disk clean-up stpped functioning - help please

The action window comes up and says it is calculating files etc., but after about four green bars at the beginning it stops. I have left it more than a 'few' minutes which it says it may take.

How can I correct this?  Many thanks in anticipation of your help

Try this

At the "run" field, simply type "cleanmgr /sageset:99" without the quotes. Then klick on each option you want to "clean" and, then klick OK.

Now in the "run" field, type "cleanmgr /sagerun:99" without the quotes. How does it respond now?
Try to experiment on the fields in the "sageset" mode.

Is it possible that you have installed Office or similar application on the Computer lately? Those installation files may take long to remove from your computer.

Good luck.

Thanks Tim, I will try what you advise. What I had done that may have brought this on is re-inastalled my AOL system and updated the drivers in the broadband. I had to back-up the related files in the process. Would this cause it. Oh! One other thing I did before re-instaling my AOL was to use system restore as I had been troubled by sluggish performance. Could this have done it?

It is a US model and was purchased on E-bay a couple of years ago, It has been OK until just recently, but then I also have a table top PC which I use often. I do not have the cd's except for the mouseworks.
