DVD Decoder missing
I recently reinstalled XP onto my computer, and apparently in the process my DVD decoder was lost. How do I recover it?

You need to install the software for your DVD drive. Either Sonic or Roxio.

Did you get something like Power DVD with your computer? All Dell computers that ship with DVD drives also ship with software to play DVDs. It would have been quite helpful from the beginning if you stated which model computer you have. With that information someone would be able to tell you what should have come with your computer.

Yes, it came with PowerDVD, but I lost that too in the process of reloading. I did not get a PowerDVD disc with my computer.
The make of my computer is a Dell Inspiron 600m.

See the Moderator's post about missing CDs at the top of the Software - Windows XP forum.

Yes, it matters which division you bought the computer from. You will have to use the phone.

Did you have a disk of WinDVD? My computer came with the disk. I had the same problem when I installed XP.
WinDVD fixed it.

I have similar problems and they ignore my emails and don't reply to voicemail messages!
DELL UK are a black hole as far as customer support is concerned, in my experience.
