Easy Transfer ...help!!!!

We just purchased a Dell 412 and I have been trying since 8:30 this morning to transfer my files from my old computer.  First thing that comes up is a file is blocked...skip file and continue transfer..I'm asked...Okay, I skip the file and all seems to be going well (except it doesn't go any farther than that file on my new computer.  All of a sudden a window appears saying that the transfer is cancelled.  Anyone else having a problem with this?  I called to see if Dell could help with the issue and was told it wasn't their problem, it's not covered under the warranty, etc.  Baloney!  It's a new computer...if the software they put in it doesn't work they should help you figure out why! My husband is going to be furious (I'm the one who is on the computer all the time so he left it to me to do the transfering, etc)when he discovers that not only did he spend money for a stupid cable that seems to do nothing, but Dell blew me off!
If somebody knows what is going on would really appreciate some help.

I maybe can help. What files are you copying?

Thanks.  So sorry it has taken this long to check back in.  I've been working on the transfer thing all day!
Okay....here is the situation:  I finally got it to transfer files...after removing loads from my old computer that I absolutely didn't want or need.  Now I have a problem....I can't find anything that transferred!  Oh, excuse me, I did locate an avatar, 2 pictures and Verizon Yahoo home came up.
That sure isn't everything that was transferred.  I know for a fact there was music (my daughter's) and my husband's picture's.  So....I'm now just resting for a while.  I'm so sick of this that I could just swream.

OK. How are you transferring everything? DVD, USB, network, or other? Personally, I use DVDs, or CDs, whichever I can do, to copy files over. So if I got rid of an old PC, I would at least have the discs to fall back on. I just put them in the closet until any future events may need them.

Again....sorry didn't get back to you.  Took some time off from this to do other things that needed done.

I'm using the transfer cable, so that'd make it USB.  This is the first time that the capability has been there (at least that I know of) to directly transfer from old computer to new one.  Thot it would be easier than saving everything to CDs....Boy what a mistake!!!!!   Now what, you have any idea where the stuff that was transferred can be hiding?
