error 0X000003E8 - NEED HELP!

Question

Today my Norton Antivirus 2007 software has experience an 'Unexpected Error # 0X000003E*.  It leads me to Symantic/Norton site to fix the error.  I enter my email address and address and Live Update runs.  I restart my computer and the error is fixed!  Not for long, though.  This lasts anywhere from a couple minutes until, one time, about 5 minutes.  Then the whole process starts over again.  I must have gone through this at least 10 times.   I am aware Norton is not well thought of here but I have it and it needs to be fixed.    I did a search for 0X000003E8.  Found many sites that claim to fix it.  Each time I go into one I am offered the very same download.  Did it once.  What it did was search my computer for errors and claimed to find over 800 of them.  They said with the version I had just downloaded they could fix only 3.  I would have to purchase the version that could fix the balance.  I wasn't buying that.  I did let them fix the 3 they promised.  Amazingly, the error they claimed they would fix for me was not one of those.    Any suggestions as to where I should go from here?  I have my Norton disk and Product Key.  Am hesitant to uninstall and re-install.  Yet.  Am afraid it will be for nothing because I fear the error will return.   Thanks, Bessie

Tom,   Thanks so very much!  I had searched Norton's site but didn't get to the exact right spot - and YOU did it for me.  They have now allowed me to download a corrected version and I seem to be all set, thanks to you.  I will keep a link to the site you provided in my favorites for 'just in case'.   Bessie
