Factory Reset For XP

Question

I have a Dell Dimension 2400 i need to do a total reset, so hopefully deleting all files and reseting it to how it was when i recieved it. Thanks Alot Tomdlr

TomDir,

IF your system was made after July 16, 2004 you can return it to "as shipped" condition using the procedures here.

If it was made before then, your only option is to reinstall Windows, drivers, and applications. See this.

there is also a utility on the windows xp cd in the tools folder called sysprep this will also do this job it leaves software and drivers intacked but the next time the pc is run it comes up with the last section of the install procedure asking for the user names  you can read up on it here http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;302577
